For sale: 1956 Packard Caribbean Convertible, 374CI. This car, (5699-1001) is #1 of 276 made in the final year. 30000 original miles. This collectors dream needs a complete restoration however all components are there. Nothing has been rearranged or swapped out with non-Packard parts. The interior was stored separately indoors. The bench is reversible with either leather or clothe. It is powered with two four barrel carburetors and a Bat-wing air cleaner--all original. It has the original chrome valve covers. There is a lot of surface rust, and rot. The Packard is built like a tank. In The Pope of Greenwich Village a Packard is hit with a sledge hammer and the hammer bounced off. Fully restored this car fetches over $300k, The reserve is low. You know this is a lifetime opportunity to possess this priceless automobile.
The last Packard–the classic American luxury car with the famously enigmatic slogan “Ask the Man Who Owns One”–rolls off the production line at Packard’s plant in Detroit, Michigan on this day (June 25) in 1956.
